Wall of Water
Volcanic rock is highly porous and water from the Cascades finds its way to emerge from every possible crevice at McArthur-Burney Falls. Teddy Roosevelt once described this beautiful waterfall as the "Eighth Wonder of the World."

Redwoods in Fog
The ultimate in tranquility can be found among these peaceful giants. Hiking through the beautiful Redwood National Park in Northern California, you often feel like whispering to avoid disturbing these revered old trees. The nearby Pacific Ocean bestows a lovely mist that hushes sounds and gently filters sunbeams making their way to the undergrowth of lush ferns and soft paths.

Rocky Mountain Blue
Mount Sneffels Wilderness, Colorado
Sitting at 11,500 ft, Middle Blue Lake is so high that it steals its gorgeous color from the sky. Tucked between Upper Blue and Lower Blue Lakes, it basks in the beautiful summer sunshine and shimmers proudly for those who climb the steep trail to see her.

Paine Glow Landscape
An October sunrise sets the Paine massif aglow and leaves all who see it speechless and lost in wonder. You want to savor this gorgeous view for hours on end, but the moment is fleeting and the sun waits for no one. Fortunately, there was a camera at hand to freeze the moment for us to enjoy for posterity...

Sentinel Broods
Weather is a fickle mistress in the mountains. At once, she is warm and playful. In a rush, she chills and storm clouds gather. The Matterhorn is no stranger to her whims. Steady and firm, he stands sentinel and broods in her wake.

Castle in the Sky
Castle in the Sky
From the middle of Lago Grey, look up and see the beautiful face of Paine Grande stoically gazing back at you through the mist. The jagged peak is reminiscent of a castle perched on high, and the delicate dusting of snow reminds us of a winter fading into spring.

Valley of Fire & Light
Antelope Canyon is a sacred place for the Navajo people. Walking through the cavernous sinews of sandstone, one can feel the tremendous power of Nature. She carved these slot canyons from Water and Wind.
When the sun is highest, he slips bright beams of light into the narrows and sets the canyon ablaze in reds and oranges.

Last Hurrah
Cherry blossoms are one of the most iconic symbols of spring. The radiant bursts of pink are the gold standard for renewal and rebirth. A deep breath brings sweet perfume wafting on gentle breezes. But spring is as ephemeral as it is resplendent, and the brief blossoms come showering down upon us as a reminder that life must go on.

Sakura San Diego
The Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park is one of the highlights of Spring in San Diego. Sakura is Japanese for cherry blossoms, and sakura take center stage in this particular performance of Haru (Japanese for Spring). Wisteria offer their lavender sweetness in a supporting role -- and everything is framed by the Southern California sunshine in all of its splendor.

Tickled Light
FUNGtography has an obsession with Beauty in a DIFFERENT Light, and this image is just one example. The sun rides its chariot across the sky each day and offers the keen eye (and camera) a chance to play and interact with its awesome powers. Backlit, shadowed and illuminated on bias, every pink hue in these sakura offer another interpretation of an electromagnetic fantasy spun in plump, pastel threads.

Wisteria Wonders
Purple can be bold and regal, or soft and inviting. Apparently, Wisteria can be both in the same bloom! Dangling elegantly in delicate canopies of lavender and violet, these blossoms perfume the air with notes of honey and whisper sweet nothings of Springtime glory.

Blue Hugh
Whoever gave bluebirds their name obviously hadn't encountered this guy before... can you argue the indigo bunting isn't the epitome of blue?
This particular handsome fellow has been dubbed Hugh, Blue Hugh, in honor of his magnificent spring coat -- a veritable display of all wavelengths between 400 to 500 nanometers.
~ Indigo Bunting, Passerina cyanea

Admiring the View
Admiring the view from his precarious perch, this unCommon Yellowthroat is making a rare appearance beyond the brambles and the bushes.
His Zorro mask and elusive nature has earned him the popular nickname of Yellow Bandit, but he takes this moment to embrace the light and smell the flowers, greeting Spring with proper reverence.

Flicker of Light
It is no wonder that Woody the Woodpecker is so beloved... Picidaes have so much personality! The Northern Flicker is no exception, with her spotted coat, fancy black scarf and the splash of rouge on her cheeks. She is taking a "moment for me" at the fountain and we are more than happy to take in the fine view.

Sublimation
Spring's snow melt is a wondrous sight pouring over the precipice at Lower Yosemite Falls. The nip in the air and the crashing water reverberating off the canyon walls make for a full sensory experience. The bright sun elicits the coolest part of this scene -- beating on the ice and changing it from solid to mist. Chemists call this phenomenon sublimation. Truly sublime!
